BG & The Mojo Hands — Texas Boogie & Swing

BG & The Mojo Hands formed in 1994. After working the local open mike circuit for a year or so and a stint as lead guitarist and founding member of the original DC Blues Society Band, Brian decided to form his own band. It was called the Midnight Blues Band. About a year later the name was changed to BG & The Mojo Hands.

Brian hired some the area’s best and most experienced musicians and started booking the band on the local club scene. Originally the Mojo Hands were primarily a Chicago-style blues band. As Brian’s vision of the band evolved, the Mojo Hands started incorporating other genres such as west-coast swing and blues, jump blues, rockabilly and swamp blues into their sound. During the last several years Brian has also been performing as a solo acoustic artist, playing primarily Delta and Piedmont-style blues, including some originals.

Today the Mojo Hands are a established blues and swing band that performs at club venues as well as festivals, swing dances, corporate parties, etc. Endorsements have been garnered and the band has received favorable press from the Washington Post and the Gazette Newspapers.
